The beginning

When I first applied for a job with MAKEEN Energy, I didn’t expect to get it because, as a person, I’m very laid back and easy-going and I love to make jokes. I got the job, nevertheless – maybe my uncomplicated fashion was just what they were looking for. Quickly, I was out learning by doing, which is the only way to really learn, and soon I got the hang of it.

As a supervisor, I was the face of the company for the customer, and I functioned as the middleman. My job was quite diverse when I was out in the field, I functioned as a salesman if I noticed a customer need on site, I acted as an advisor at meetings and I instructed people when installing the equipment.

The natural evolution was for me to move to Project Management, as a I realized that I was already doing this job in my daily tasks as Supervisor. My experience and motivation grew, so it was more clear to me what a customer needed.

I’ve been all over the world, and I learned a lot about people from travelling to foreign countries and visiting different cultures. You really get to know people because you spend a fair amount of time together when working on a project for months at a time. I love this part of my job.

My current job

I have always loved to explore and visit customers abroad, so it was natural for me to move into the role of Area Sales Manager since I had been working in sales since my first role in the company.

Being in this role has been a lot of fun, it has given me the chance to expand my network of customers around the globe.

The best thing about working for MAKEEN Energy

The best thing about being part of MAKEEN Energy is the degree of freedom. I have the freedom to make my own decisions on behalf of the company, and my judgement is valued and trusted. Trust is something you earn – both within the company and with the customers. And since I’m dealing with customers daily, I am trusted to know what is best for them and make the proper decisions.

There has been a natural development in my career due to my personal life, and in this company, you can progress in the direction you want, which is great. Finally, I’d like to emphasise how nice it is that people greet me and know who I am when I go into any MAKEEN Energy office around the globe even though I am located in Portugal. People genuinely care about each other, and I feel that I’m part of the global MAKEEN Energy family.
