No emissions of harmful pollutants from ships – that is the essence of the very strict global emissions regulations that took effect in 2020. As an alternative to conventional oil-based bunker fuels, LNG and LBG are a great way to comply with regulations of the main emission types (SOX, NOX, particulate matters and CO2) – while staying efficient and competitive.
As of 2022, over 200 LNG-fuelled ships sail the ocean with additional hundreds on order, and that number is only expected to grow in the coming years. In the future, ports that offer services for LNG-fuelled vessels will get a clear competitive advantage. The technology is already available, and so is the LNG. Local, small-scale LNG production will further increase the supply.
We made a short film that shows just how little space, and how little time, it takes to achieve a fast and efficient LNG bunkering solution. It is the bunkering equivalent of a Formula 1 pit stop!
We take pride in being able to design, produce and deliver bunkering solutions that are tailored to the situation our customers face. So no matter your location or environment, we will work together with you to arrive at a solution that matches your requirements perfectly – whether that is a fixed installation, a mobile bunkering adapter or something new entirely.
Our LNG and LBG bunkering solutions come as turnkey projects where we take care of everything, including civil works, installation, talking to local authorities and securing permits. As part of MAKEEN Energy’s world-spanning network, we can offer after-sales service packages and facility management – letting you focus on the core part of your business with minimal worries about equipment maintenance and uptime.
LNG and LBG both consist of methane. The difference is that the gas used to produce the former is extracted from underground deposits, while the latter comes from organic material (such as livestock manure) that is already part of the planet’s carbon circulation. This makes LBG a 100% carbon neutral fuel with the same great qualities as LNG. All our bunkering solutions are equally compatible with both LNG and LBG.
LNG and LBG are composed primarily of methane, one of the most potent greenhouse gases. This means that even minor leaks significantly reduce the environmental benefits of switching to LNG or LBG. We design our bunkering solutions as a closed circuit, which means that any gas left in the pipes after bunkering returns to the tank instead of leaking into the atmosphere.
We are a part of the Gas Solutions department under MAKEEN Energy who has taken up the mission of developing innovative small-scale liquefied green gas solutions.
No matter what type of liquefied green gas solution we develop, we start with our 4 core principles: zero emission, scalability, customisation and mobility.
Flexible small-scale liquefaction solutions can make liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied biogas (LBG) available to more consumers as an off-grid energy source and at the same time reduce the cost for both suppliers and consumers.
By offering innovative and flexible refuelling stations for liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied biogas (LBG), we aim to help the transport sector towards a cleaner, more sustainable future with cleaner air.
We have taken up the mission of developing innovative small-scale liquefied green gas solutions.
As one of the first companies in the world, MAKEEN Energy signed the Sustainable Ocean Principles in October 2019. This United Nations initiative recognises the urgency and global importance of a healthy ocean – and as a participant, we will take part in making a positive difference.
