Unique Danish LNG co-operation on green energy for the maritime industry in Scandinavia. MAKEEN Cryo is thrilled to welcome Nature Energy into the NORDLIQ partnership.
The highly skilled and visionary energy company, Nature Energy, is as of December 2016 partner in the co-operation to erect an advanced LNG liquefaction plant, which will be located on the port of Frederikshavn. The Bunker Holding Group, MAKEEN Cryo and Port of Frederikshavn are the remaining partners in the LNG project that will transform biogas from a gaseous to a liquid state thereby enabling greener transport, e.g. in the Baltic Sea and the North Sea, as well as greener road transport in Scandinavia. Nature Energy's contribution to the collaboration will be to supply the biogas for the plant. Nature Energy has great experience with selling and distributing natural gas to Danish industrial and private customers. Furthermore, in recent years, the company has become an industry leader in the production of Danish biogas. This means that the new facility will feature green energy in the form of liquefied biogas (LBG) produced in Denmark. The design of the facility is planned for 2017 while commissioning is scheduled for the end of 2018.
In February 2016, Bunker Holding, the world’s second-largest bunker company, and MAKEEN Cryo, a major supplier of equipment for infrastructure and plants for the handling of gas, started co-operating on the advanced LNG project on the port of Frederikshavn. The more than 100,000 ships that pass the strait at Skagen every year make the port of Frederikshavn the optimal location for the new liquefaction plant. Via the transformation of biogas from a gaseous to a liquid state, the plant will ensure the development of the market for sustainable fuels mainly for maritime transport and subsequently for heavy road transport – not only in Denmark, but in all of Scandinavia.
