Some cylinders are used for household cooking, where they accumulate grease and other residues from the cooking process. Other cylinders may encounter more stubborn residue, such as tar or resin, which is difficult to remove. Particularly tough residues can require specialised cleaning solutions to ensure effective removal from cylinder surfaces.
Regular cleaning for better performance
We recommend continuous and routine cleaning of cylinders to ensure optimal performance. When cylinders are not cleaned regularly, deep cleaning is needed which requires that the cylinders to be removed from the filling process and this causes delays. Our washing system, the MAKEEN WAS System, solves this by seamlessly integrating cylinder washing into your filling line minimising the need for intensive maintenance.
The MAKEEN WAS system is designed for automatic in-line use as a compact tunnel insulated to minimise heat loss and the noise level from the washing and drying process. Heated and pressurised soap water is sprayed onto the cylinders from all directions with an array of nozzles in the washing section of the tunnel. In the drying section the washed cylinders are then blown off and dried with compressed air.
A water recirculation system allows for continuous operation with low water consumption and a ventilation system minimises moisture release from the tunnel to the surrounding environment. The right components for a thorough clean
Choosing the right detergent is key to efficient and reliable cylinder washing. We can help to identity the ideal detergent suited to your unique needs. Most cylinders that are used for household objectives can generally be cleaned with a selected detergent and degreaser while more persistent contaminants such as tar or resin can require specialised detergents.
In most cases, we recommend DST-DEGREEZ/9, a solvent-based cleaner and degreaser that have been proven effective for both steel and composite cylinders. This detergent is both environmentally friendly and safe for operators. We have tested DST-DEGREEZ/9 and found it be effective against some of the most stubborn contaminants, such as oily soot – a common and persistent residue on cylinder surfaces. For extreme cases, MAKEEN Energy recommends spraying a water and detergent solution on the cylinders and letting it soak for a while before normal washing.

Some cylinders require a more targeted approach, and to tackle even the most stubborn cylinder residue we work with our certified partner to find the best detergent to effectively clean cylinders against different kinds of persistent residue.
