Meet a MAKEENer
The beginning
As it often is, coincidence led me to MAKEEN Energy. I had a degree in computer networking, but I was working in the transportation industry, which led to me working with propane, which subsequently led me to MAKEEN Energy.
When I started, I was an administrative assistant. I assisted one of the plant managers with paperwork at one of the facilities in Bradford North of Toronto. I learned a tremendous amount from just shadowing him out on the plant observing first-hand how production was going. Soon, I was given tasks within HR as well and with that more responsibility. From there, my career in MAKEEN Energy took off.
My current job
I started out assisting the plant manager, and from then on, my career really snowballed. Now, I oversee four facilities in the US, managing 50-60 people all over USA – from Las Vegas to Florida. I obtained the role as FM Production Manager in 2020 and being a native of Canada, I had to move to the US for the position.
I wear quite a lot of hats in the sense that my tasks are so diverse and there is never a dull moment - each day is different from yesterday and that lets me grow as an employee. I mainly function as primary contact for plant managers and customers, taking care of their different needs, however, being in a small team, I step in wherever is needed – from working on the shop floor to training new managers.
The best thing about working for MAKEEN Energy
I am truly grateful for the remarkable opportunity that MAKEEN Energy has extended to my family and me, enabling us to make the significant move from Canada to the United States. This transition has been a pivotal moment, fostering not only personal growth but also a tremendous learning experience for all of us.
The process of relocating our entire family was not without its challenges, but with the unwavering support and assistance from MAKEEN Energy, the administrative aspects were managed smoothly. The cultural shift from Canada to the US has been an enlightening journey. Embracing new traditions, social norms, and ways of life has provided us with a unique perspective on the diversity that defines these neighboring countries. It's fascinating to observe how even small differences in culture can shape daily interactions and perceptions.
One of the highlights of this opportunity has been the ability to travel between MAKEEN Energy's plants. From plants on the east coast to the west coast on either side of the country, I've had the privilege to expand my understanding of the business but also allowed me to explore the nuances of different regions, each with its own set of challenges and opportunities.
