More service and employees in Malaysia

This June, our Malaysian team celebrates a special service first – that even secures employment for 9 new colleagues. The reason is that they have received their first individual full-time facility service order in the private sector. NGC Energy (formerly Shell) has signed a contract to have our technical team maintaining the equipment at their facility in Port Dickson, Malaysia.

For years, service has been a focal point throughout our organisation, and the Asia Pacific region is no exception. That is why our team in Malaysia has been working hard to optimise and expand their service offerings. And the new facility service contract proves that hard work pays off.

From 1 June 2020 and at least 3 years ahead, our technical team – with 3 engineers, 4 technicians, 1 welder and 1 electrician – will maintain the gas filling equipment at NGC Energy’s facility in Port Dickson (about 100 km from Kuala Lumpur). They will increase production capacity, reduce breakdowns to a minimum and maintain a high level of filling accuracy.

It is the first individual facility service contract in the private sector in Malaysia – but it is just a step on the service way.

Welcoming 9 new employees

With the new facility service contract, our team in Malaysia needs more skilled hands. That is why they have hired 9 new skilled colleagues to join the technical team. Now, they are 43 colleagues in total who help customers in Malaysia with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) filling equipment.

To handle the facility service contract, our service team will clock in at the customer’s facility in Port Dickson every workday. Here, they will handle the maintenance of all the equipment in the filling hall. Among other things, this includes 3 filling carrousels, 2 palletisers and 3 truck loading bays.

Together with the customer, our Malaysian team has started up a night shift dedicated to maintenance of the facility’s equipment. In that way, the 2 existing day shifts can focus completely on filling LPG cylinders.

Global teamwork made the difference

The new facility service contract is the result of a cross-border effort. Our Malaysian team has worked together with MAKEEN Energy colleagues from all around the world – Bangladesh, Brazil, Denmark, India and Portugal, to mention a few examples. It has, truly, been a global effort to develop the best possible contract that matches NGC Energy’s facility and wishes.

In addition to the facility service contract itself, our Malaysian team will also handle system upgrades for the facility and provide spare parts. And altogether, the service, upgrades and spare parts will make sure that the facility runs smoothly and efficiently.
