The Sustainable Ocean Principles function as a framework for responsible business practices across sectors and geographies. The aim is simple: We need to protect and restore the health of the ocean. At MAKEEN Energy, we are proud to announce that we have endorsed this UN initiative and its 9 principles - and we are convinced that we can help make a difference, especially with our solutions for liquefied natural gas (LNG).
As a Sustainable Ocean Principles signatory, we recognise the urgency and global importance of a healthy ocean - and we dedicate ourselves to take action. In particular, MAKEEN Energy has potential to contribute positively with the solutions we create for liquefied natural gas (LNG).
In short, LNG is the cleanest fossil fuel available, and it emits significantly less CO2 and other greenhouse gases than other conventional fuels. MAKEEN Energy's division for LNG solutions, KC LNG, designs and delivers different kinds of solutions for this clean fuel. And among other things, they create bunkering solutions that make it possible to fuel ferries with a more environmentally friendly fuel.
I am proud that MAKEEN Energy is among the first companies to support and sign the Sustainable Ocean Principles. Today, we are already designing solutions that make it possible to bunker ferries with liquefied natural gas (LNG) which is much cleaner than conventional fuels. And in the future, we will continue focusing on responsible energy solutions that make a difference to people and planet.
By signing the Sustainable Ocean Principles, we strengthen our efforts within and journey towards a continuously more sustainable future. In January 2018, we signed the UN Global Compact and committed to support its 10 principles within human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
