Shipping with a green conscience

Tightening environmental regulations make the shipping industry look for greener alternatives to conventional bunker fuels.

No emissions of harmful pollutants from ships. That is the essence of the very strict global emissions regulations that are expected to take effect in 2020. In the Emission Control Areas (ECA), the emission limits have already been tightened. As an alternative to conventional oil-based bunker fuels, LNG (liquefied natural gas) presents a way to comply with present and future regulations of the main emission types (SOx, NOx, particulate matters and CO2).

Rapid growth in number of LNG-fuelled ships

As of now, some 100 LNG-fuelled ships sail the oceans, but according to estimates the LNG-fuelled fleet will reach 1000 ships by 2020. In the future, ports that offer services for LNG-fuelled vessels will get a clear competitive advantage. The technology is already available and so is the LNG. Local, small-scale LNG production will further increase the supply.

LNG bunkering without emissions

LNG is composed primarily of methane, one of the most potent greenhouse gases. This means that even minor leaks significantly reduce the environmental benefits of switching to LNG. Our bunkering solution is designed as a closed circuit, which means that any gas left in the pipes after bunkering will be returned to the tank instead of leaking into the atmosphere.

Going green doesn't mean going slow

Kosan Crisplant's bunkering solution is fully automatic and requires no permanent staff on shore. The entire bunkering procedure can be completed in less than 30 minutes, allowing for continuous operation and optimal use of the vessel. The installation is designed and delivered as a turnkey solution and can be permanent or containerized, depending on the requirements.

Patented solution

Kosan Crisplant's bunkering solution is patented under Danish Patent No. PR 178151.

Y-piece for marine LNG bunkering

Double the capacity of your LNG bunkering process by attaching two tank trailers instead of one. The Y-piece fits any trailer design and allows you to disconnect and switch out tank trailers without stopping the bunkering process.

Green bunkering at a low cost

We proudly present an opportunity for small scale bunkering of LNG in which Kosan Crisplant acts as a bridge between the ferry crew who uses the LNG on the one side and the suppliers of the LNG on the other.
